What are the Requirements for Car Rental Uganda?
- Valid Driver’s License: You must hold a valid driver’s license from your home country or an international driving permit (IDP) if your license is not in English.
- Minimum Age: The minimum age for renting a car is typically 21 years old. Some companies may have a higher minimum age requirement, especially for 4×4 vehicles.
- Valid Passport: A valid passport is required for Identity as most rental companies can only trust you with their car after confirming you are a registered citizen.
What happens if my Rental Car Breaks Down?
In case your rental car breaks down as a result of a mechanical issue, you only need to contact us and share your current location with us. Since we have agents around the country, we shall be in position to send you someone to help you out and it will all be at our own expense.
Can I drive the rental car outside Uganda?
Driving a rental car outside Uganda is very much possible but it requires a number of requirements and a very little extra daily charge. You can need additional paperwork or insurance coverage to drive the vehicle into neighboring countries but it is all provided in the daily rate.
What happens if I return the car late?
Just in case you return the car after the agreed date/time, you may be charged an additional fee based on the hourly or daily car rental rate. Therefore you should notify the rental company in advance if you plan to extend your rental period.
Do I need an International Driver’s License to self drive in Uganda?
An International Driver’s License is not a crutial requirement for a self drive adventure in Uganda especially if your National Driver’s License is in English.
What is included in the car rental price?
Our Car rental rates in Uganda normally include; basic car insurance, 24/7 roadside assistance, unlimited mileage, pick up and drop off in Entebbe or Kampala. However, we also offer additional services such as; child seats, camping gear rental, driver hire, and GPS locators.
Can I rent a car for a one-way trip?
Yes, one-way car rentals are only possible when you rent with Your Drive Uganda. We offer you this option where you can rent a car in one location and drop it off in a different location. However, an extra fee for fuel to bring back the vehicle to our offices will be required.
What happens if I lose the car Keys during my rental?
If you lose your rental car keys, you should contact us as soon as possible. Our agent will help make a replacement and extra charges may apply especially if the key must be sent from our head offices in Kampala.
